Hello and welcome to ScooterRescue.com!

I currently provide service and repair of vintage Vespa and Lambretta motor scooters. I am located in
Cumberland Maine, just north of Portland.  Please take your time in browsing this site.  I will be adding
new content on a regular basis.  Along with information about scooter repair and services available at
Scooter Rescue,  I will have news of interest to local motor scooter enthusiasts in Maine, New
Hampshire and Vermont.  I am much more experienced at scooter repair than website design so please
be patient with me while I develop this site.

Vespa Rally 200 resource site

I have spent some time over the last few weeks creating a resource page for the Rally 200.  The Rally
200 holds a special place for Piaggio in that it was their first model with electronic ignition and their
fastest production model scoot.  The ignition system maybe a little more temperamental than some
other models but many believe it's worth it retain the Femsatronic ignition.  This site includes tips for
electrical work, torques settings, model specifications and more.
Buying a scooter

I have started to put together a guide to buying a vintage scooter.  So far, I have just put together a
page with some information about dangerous restorations being imported from Asia (India and Vietnam).
The US is being inundated by these scooters that look pretty on the outside but underneath the new
paint you find a nightmare.  If you buy a scooter that was imported from Asia, know that no reputable
scooter mechanic will work on it.  The scooters are that bad.  The short answer is don't proceed without
some expert advice on the scooter you re considering.
